Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original. Original inserts or paperwork shown in the photos are included; display stands and other photography props are not. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Mattel was in a rare position in 1983: it owned one of the hottest toy lines in America and a video game console to put it on. The Power of He-Man is the result, with Eternia, Skeletor and Castle Grayskull brought to the Intellivision by the same company that made the action figures.

The adventure opens in the cockpit of the Wind Raider, racing across Eternia toward Castle Grayskull. Skeletor's fireballs streak across the sky, and you weave, shoot them down and drop bombs in hopes of catching the Lord of Destruction himself. Land near the castle and the chase continues on foot through the foothills and gardens under a hail of fire, then into Grayskull's throne room for the showdown with Skeletor. Make it through and the cycle begins again against new backdrops.

The presentation is the big draw. This was the first game to carry Mattel's SuperGraphics banner on the box, a promise of richer visuals, and the shimmering fireballs and stirring title theme still make an impression. It plays in short, repeatable bursts, closer to an arcade score-chaser than the sprawling epic the box art suggests, which makes it easy to pick up for a quick run.

What makes it special is the moment it captures. The figures had been on shelves since 1982, the Filmation cartoon arrived the same year as this cartridge, and Masters of the Universe was suddenly everywhere. For a He-Man collector, it is among the franchise's earliest video games, made by Mattel for Mattel's own console, and a natural companion to a shelf of vintage figures.
