Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is one of the more audacious swings in the Ninja Gaiden franchise — a hyper-stylized, over-the-top hack-and-slash that trades the series' signature grounded brutality for a neon-soaked, cel-shaded aesthetic dripping with attitude. Developed by Team NINJA and Spark Unlimited and published by Tecmo Koei, the game drops you into the boots of Yaiba Kamikaze, a disgraced ninja with a cybernetic arm, a hair-trigger temper, and a very personal grudge against Ryu Hayabusa. The premise is unapologetically pulpy: undead hordes, weaponized limbs torn from zombies, and a visual style inspired by comic books and grindhouse cinema all collide in something that clearly wasn't trying to be another straightforward Ninja Gaiden sequel — and that's exactly what makes it interesting.
Gameplay centers on chaining brutal combos with Yaiba's blade and his mechanical limb, which doubles as both a grappling tool and an impromptu weapon delivery system. Grab a zombie, use it as a flail. Rip off an arm and beat the next wave with it.
