Item Description

Transformers: Devastation is the game that Generation 1 fans had been waiting decades for. Developed by PlatinumGames and released in 2015, it channels everything that made the original 1980s cartoon so iconic — the character designs, the voice cast (including Peter Cullen returning as Optimus Prime), the color palette, the larger-than-life battles between Autobots and Decepticons — and wraps it all in PlatinumGames' signature fast, stylish, combo-driven action combat. If you grew up watching Optimus roll out on Saturday mornings, this is the closest a game has ever come to putting you inside that animated world.

The visual style alone is worth stopping to appreciate. PlatinumGames used a cel-shaded approach that genuinely looks like the classic cartoon in motion, with thick outlines, bold colors, and character models that are instantly recognizable from thirty-plus years ago. Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, Bumblebee — they're all here, rendered with a loving faithfulness to the G1 designs that fans have come to expect from the best Transformers merchandise and media. The environments feel massive and kinetic, with the kind of destruction and spectacle that the era's cartoons always promised but could never quite deliver on animation budgets.

Gameplay is pure PlatinumGames DNA — fluid, deep, and enormously satisfying once you start chaining together light and heavy attacks, dodge counters, and vehicle-mode ram strikes. Each of the five playable Autobots — Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and Grimlock — handles differently, giving the game real replayability as you dial in your preferred playstyle and push for higher ranks on each mission. The combat rewards timing and aggression in equal measure, and the upgrade and weapon systems give you plenty to chase across multiple playthroughs.

It's worth noting that Devastation arrived at a specific moment in Transformers gaming history and made a real impression. The combination of PlatinumGames' pedigree and the G1 license was treated as something of a dream match by fans of both, and the game delivered on that premise in a way that still holds up today. It remains one of the definitive Transformers gaming experiences and a standout action title in the PS3 library.

This complete-in-box copy is perfect for the lifelong Transformers fan who grew up with the G1 series, for collectors building out their PS3 library, or for any PlatinumGames enthusiast who hasn't yet made it to Cybertron. Having the manual in hand makes it a genuinely satisfying piece to own — a complete artifact of one of the best licensed games of the modern era.
