Item Description
In Final Fantasy III, the elemental crystals are the heart of the world, and Magic's Final Fantasy set brought them to the table as a cycle of legendary artifacts. The Water Crystal is the blue one, and it is built for a very specific kind of villainy: milling your opponents out. Blue spells you cast cost {1} less, and if an opponent would mill one or more cards, they mill that many plus four instead.
That replacement effect makes every mill card in your deck dramatically better. A spell that mills two now mills six; a repeatable mill effect suddenly chews through libraries at a frightening pace. The Water Crystal also brings its own engine: {4}{U}{U}, {T} makes each opponent mill cards equal to the number of cards in your hand, and the extra four applies on top of that. In a multiplayer game, the bonus hits every opponent separately. Blue mill commanders, control decks that keep a full grip, and anyone who enjoys watching libraries vanish will find this a powerful centerpiece.
This is the Final Fantasy printing, collector number 85, illustrated by Pablo Mendoza, offered in non-foil. Its flavor text comes from Final Fantasy III's Aria, praying for the crystal's light to return.
