Item Description

Gargamel has found a weapon worthy of his grudge: the Vileaf, a toxic plant that lures Smurfs in and traps them, and it is spreading through the forest faster than anyone can pull it up. The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf, developed by OSome Studio and published by Microids in 2021, sends four Smurfs out to fight back, armed with the Smurfizer, a clever backpack gadget that turns cleaning up the forest into the heart of a bright, toy-like 3D platformer.

The Smurfizer does a lot of heavy lifting. It vacuums up the purple corruption until an area bursts back into colour, lets your Smurf hover across gaps, boosts forward in a speedy dash attack, and inhales enemies before firing spiky seeds back at them. Every ability draws on one shared heat gauge, so overusing any of them leaves you briefly vulnerable, which keeps even young players thinking about how they move. The backpack keeps gaining upgrades as the adventure continues.

Five levels, linked into a larger semi-open world reached from a noticeboard, take you through places such as a treacherous swamp of moving and vanishing platforms and a precarious castle on the way to Gargamel's hovel. Secret areas and hidden rewards are tucked into every corner, with a percentage tracker for completionists, three difficulty settings, and a two-player co-op mode for sharing the adventure. It was the first game in Microids' multi-year run of Smurfs titles, and a surprisingly solid one, making it a lovely first 3D platformer for a young fan of the little blue villagers.
