Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.

Item Description

Eleven mana for a 2/15 with defender reads like a joke until you look at the first line. The Pride of Hull Clade costs {X} less, where X is the total toughness of creatures you control, so a board of walls, turtles and high-toughness blockers can drop this mythic Crocodile Elk Turtle for a fraction of its printed cost. Its own 15 toughness then feeds every other toughness-matters card you run.

The real payoff is its {2}{U}{U} activation. Until end of turn, a creature you control gets +1/+0, is allowed to attack despite defender, and gains a trigger that draws cards equal to its toughness when it deals combat damage to a player. Point that at the Pride itself and a single connection draws fifteen cards; point it at a stubborn wall and your defensive pieces suddenly become a card-draw engine. With a green casting cost and a blue activation, it makes a natural green-blue commander for defender and toughness strategies, or a towering finisher in the 99.

This is the Murders at Karlov Manor showcase printing, collector number 352, illustrated by Ivan Shavrin in the set's case-file dossier frame, offered here in non-foil. The detective-file presentation gives an absurd, majestic beast the feel of an official investigation subject.
