Item Description
The Mightstone and the Weakstone started the most famous sibling rivalry in Magic's history. When Urza and Mishra found the Thran powerstone in the caves of Koilos, it split in two, each brother claimed a half, and the war that followed shaped Dominaria's history. The stones first appeared as separate cards back in Antiquities; The Brothers' War reunites them on a single legendary Powerstone artifact.
Five mana gets you a choice on entry: draw two cards, or give a creature -5/-5 until end of turn. After that it taps for two colorless mana that can pay for artifact spells and activated abilities, though not for nonartifact spells. That makes it removal or card draw stapled to a ramp piece, a great fit for artifact-focused Commander decks. Pair it with Urza, Lord Protector and the two can meld into Urza, Planeswalker, the fusion that puts the stones back in their maker's hands.
This is The Brothers' War printing, collector number 238, illustrated by Ryan Pancoast, in foil.
