Item Description

Picture the moment Bilbo creeps into the Lonely Mountain and finds Smaug asleep on a mountain of gold. Treasures of Smaug turns that chamber into a Magic: The Gathering display piece. It is one of the Scene Boxes for The Hobbit, the August 2026 Universes Beyond set, and its theme is the dragon's hoard itself.

Scene Boxes are built around a simple, delightful idea: borderless cards whose artwork lines up edge to edge into one continuous panorama, so the picture keeps going from card to card when you lay them out. Here that means Smaug's treasure chamber stretched across a row of cards, ready for a stand, a frame or the front page of a binder. Those scene cards are legal in Commander, Legacy and Vintage (not Standard), so the same pieces that look great on a shelf can also join a Middle-earth Commander deck.

The packs that come along are from The Hobbit itself, a set that brings back the Adventure mechanic from Throne of Eldraine and dresses its cards in treatments like Book Cover and Dragon Horde frames. As a gift, it lands with the Tolkien reader who has never shuffled a deck as easily as with the Magic player who wants a dragon looming over the Commander table. Of all the scenes in The Hobbit, Smaug on his gold might be the one most worth hanging on a wall.
