Item Description

Tempestra made her name as a video-game sorceress who escapes an arcade machine to tangle with the Turtles in the 1987 animated series, and she has since resurfaced as a boss in Turtles games like Shredder's Revenge. Her Magic card captures the gamer gimmick perfectly: for one turn, she gives your best creature a bonus life.

For {2}{R}, tapping her and sacrificing an artifact, you create a token copy of another creature you control. The copy isn't legendary, gains haste and is sacrificed at the beginning of the next end step, so it's all about the immediate payoff: double up an enter-the-battlefield trigger, swing with a second copy of your biggest attacker, or copy a legend without worrying about the legend rule. Treasure, Clues and Food make ideal fuel, which is why she has caught on as a commander for artifact and clone strategies built around red.

This is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Eternal printing, collector number 27, illustrated by Hokyoung Kim, offered in non-foil. A two-mana 1/3 Elemental Illusion, she lands early, survives a lot of early skirmishes and keeps the game going one extra life at a time.
