Thirty-seven and three-quarter miles of public road, lined with stone walls, hedgerows and village houses, ridden flat out on a superbike. The Isle of Man TT is one of the oldest and most dangerous road races in motorsport, and Suzuki TT Superbikes is built entirely around recreating it. Jester Interactive mapped the 37.73-mile Mountain Course using government data and its own captures, sending its team to the island to record the roadside landmarks, vegetation and views that riders know by heart.
That accuracy is what makes the game. This is not a circuit with run-off areas and gravel traps; it is a ribbon of road that threads through towns, climbs over the mountain section and drops back down toward the finish, and learning it is a project in itself. Braking points, blind crests and fast sweepers only start to make sense after lap upon lap of memorization, and a perfect run demands patience and nerve as much as raw speed. Every second you shave off feels earned.
More than 50 bikes span every class from 125cc machines up to F1 1000cc superbikes, so you can learn the course on something forgiving before moving up to bikes that punish every mistake. Mad Sunday mode is a standout: based on the real day when fans are free to ride the mountain section themselves, it fills the course with everyday road traffic to weave around. Sidecar racing and two-player split-screen round out a package with more variety than a single-course racer might suggest.
Released in North America by Valcon Games in 2005, it occupies a rare corner of the PS2 library: a dedicated real-road motorcycle racer in a generation dominated by four-wheeled circuit games. Jester returned to the island with two more TT Superbikes games later on the PS2, but this is the one that first brought the Mountain Course to North American PlayStation 2 owners, and it is still a fascinating way to experience a race most people will only ever watch.

Suzuki TT Superbikes features more than 50 vehicles from all over the world, and includes the world famous 37.73 mile Isle of Mann racetrack. For the highest level of realism possible, the course itself has been mapped using data supplied by the government and data captured by the development team. In addition to the traditional racing, the game also features a "Mad Sunday" mode that brings riders from all over the world to test their chops on the mountain. Supplementary modes, such as two-player split-screen and sidecar multiplayer are also included, as are bikes from all classes -- from 125cc all the way to the F1 1000ccs!
