Item Description
Survival of the Fittest turns a hand of creatures into a toolbox. It is a two-mana green enchantment with one repeatable ability: pay one green mana and discard a creature card to search your library for any creature card and put it into your hand. There is no limit on how often you can use it, so a single turn with enough mana can rearrange your whole game plan.
The real magic is that the discard is often an upside. Throw a big creature into the graveyard for a reanimation spell, pitch a creature that wants to be in the graveyard, and fetch exactly the answer or threat the moment calls for. That flexibility powered some of the most famous creature-toolbox decks of Magic's early competitive years, and Commander players still love it for finding the perfect creature every turn while setting up graveyard tricks.
Survival of the Fittest is on Magic's Reserved List, so Exodus is its only paper printing. This is that Exodus printing from 1998, collector number 129, illustrated by Pete Venters, in non-foil; Exodus predates foil cards entirely.
