Item Description

Resident Evil Origins Collection brings together two of the most important entries in survival horror history in a single PlayStation 4 package. You get Resident Evil HD Remaster and Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster side by side — two games that, taken together, tell the full story of the Spencer Mansion nightmare and the events that set it all in motion. For fans of the franchise, this collection is about as essential as it gets, and having it on PS4 means these classics look and play better than they ever did in their original forms.

Resident Evil HD Remaster is the one that started it all — the game that defined the survival horror genre, gave the world the Spencer Mansion, and introduced Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield to a generation of terrified players. The remaster sharpens the visuals dramatically, adds widescreen support, and gives you the option to play with updated controls, all while preserving the oppressive atmosphere, punishing resource management, and nerve-shredding tension that made the original a landmark release. Every ink ribbon still feels precious. Every typewriter still feels like a safe harbor.

Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster is the prequel that follows S.T.A.R.S. medic Rebecca Chambers and convicted criminal Billy Coen through the Arklay Mountains training facility in the hours before the mansion incident unfolds. Its partner-switching mechanic — swapping control between two characters who can act independently — adds a layer of puzzle-solving and strategy that sets it apart from the rest of the series. It is an underappreciated gem that gets to shine here alongside the game that it sets up.

Together, these two titles represent the roots of everything Resident Evil became. Playing them back to back is one of the best ways to experience the origin of the franchise's mythology, and the PS4 versions are the definitive way to do it — refined presentation, modern platform convenience, and all the dread fully intact.

This collection is a must-own for Resident Evil devotees, lapsed fans looking to revisit where it all began, and anyone curious about why survival horror became one of gaming's most beloved genres. If you have even a passing interest in classic horror gaming, this one deserves a spot on your shelf.
