Item Description
A board wipe is only a speed bump when your deck is full of small creatures and you are holding Raise the Past. For two generic and two white mana, this sorcery returns every creature card with mana value 2 or less from your graveyard straight to the battlefield. Not one, not two: all of them.
That makes it a fantastic reload for white weenie decks, sacrifice-based aristocrats strategies that grind value out of cheap bodies, and anything leaning on enter-the-battlefield triggers from one- and two-drops. Sacrifice outlets, self-mill and discard effects all stock the graveyard ahead of time, so a single cast can rebuild an entire board in one swing. In Commander it shines in decks packed with efficient utility creatures, bringing back mana creatures, card-draw creatures and rules-bending hatebears together. The flavor text adds a wink: "At Strixhaven University, learning about the past means talking to those who were there."
This is the Foundations printing, collector number 22, illustrated by Nathaniel Himawan, in non-foil. Foundations arrived in November 2024 as a long-lived core set built to welcome new and returning players.
