Item Description
Rafiki has always been more dangerous than he looks, and this Dreamborn version from Into the Inklands leans all the way into that idea. On paper he is a one-cost, inkable Amethyst character with 0 strength, 2 willpower and 1 lore. In practice, Challenger +3 means he hits with 3 strength whenever he challenges, so a single ink can take a real bite out of an opponent's board.
His Ancient Skills ability is the part The Lion King fans will love: whenever he challenges a Hyena character, he takes no damage from that challenge. It is the staff-swinging mandrill who holds his own against the hyenas in the film's final battle, turned into a rules interaction. Against Hyena-heavy decks he can pick off threats turn after turn without a scratch, and against everyone else he is still a cheap lore-gatherer that forces awkward decisions about what to leave exposed. Even his flavor text is a cheeky warning to watch out for that stick.
This listing offers the Into the Inklands printing, collector number 54/204, illustrated by Otto Paredes, in non-foil or cold foil. With his Dreamborn • Mentor • Sorcerer classifications, he also slots neatly into decks that care about those character types.
