Item Condition

This is a loose PSP 1000 console in black, coming as the handheld unit itself without a box or manual. Coolection has tested this PSP 1000 and it was functioning as expected — though as with any piece of vintage portable hardware, performance can vary a little depending on your setup, battery, UMD media, and general use history. If you'd like a closer look before committing, just hit the "Request Additional Pictures" button on this page and we'll send over high-resolution shots of the exact unit. Please refer to the provided photos for the exact details of the item's condition.

Item Description

The PSP 1000 — the original PlayStation Portable — is where Sony's handheld legacy began, and the black colorway remains one of the most iconic looks the system ever wore. Released as the launch model of the PSP line, the 1000 series set the template for everything that followed: a wide, gorgeous widescreen display, that satisfying analog nub, a full suite of face and shoulder buttons, and the UMD drive that brought console-quality gaming into your pocket. It's a chunky, confident piece of hardware with real weight to it, and that build quality is a big part of why these units keep going decades later.

As the foundation of the PSP family, the 1000 is compatible with the entire UMD game library — a deep, surprisingly rich catalog spanning action RPGs, puzzle games, fighting games, platformers, and much more. It also supports Sony's Memory Stick Duo format and connects to the PlayStation 3 for Remote Play and data transfer. Homebrew and emulation enthusiasts have long celebrated the PSP 1000 as one of the most capable and accessible platforms in that space, and its open-feel firmware history has kept a passionate community around it well into the modern era.

Whether you're tracking down a replacement unit for a system you loved and lost, building out a retro portable collection, or stepping into PSP gaming for the first time, the black PSP 1000 is a natural starting point. The form factor still feels great in the hands, and the library it unlocks is genuinely worth diving into.

This one is for anyone who wants a capable, classic handheld with serious collector credibility and a game library that holds up.
