Item Description
The original Nintendo 3DS launched a new era for handheld gaming, bringing glasses-free 3D visuals to a platform packed with an incredible library spanning role-playing games, platformers, fighters, and everything in between. Cosmo Black is the sleek, sophisticated colorway that debuted alongside the system at launch — a deep, nearly obsidian finish that gave the handheld an understated, premium look that held up beautifully over the years. The clamshell design protects both screens when closed, the dual cameras enabled augmented reality features right out of the box, and the slide pad offered precise analog control that the DS generation had been missing.
As a new unit, this is the complete experience — system, charger, AR cards, all documentation, and every piece of original packaging tucked inside exactly as it was on day one. The Nintendo 3DS family went on to become one of Nintendo's most beloved platforms, home to landmark titles like Ocarina of Time 3D, Pokemon X and Y, Fire Emblem Awakening, and the Monster Hunter and Shin Megami Tensei series at their portable peak. Owning a new original-model 3DS in the launch colorway is a piece of that era preserved in amber.
It's also worth noting that the original 3DS model has a distinct identity separate from the XL and New 3DS variants that followed. The compact form factor, the original launch lineup, and yes, the Cosmo Black finish — these details matter to collectors building out a definitive Nintendo handheld history. A new unit sidesteps the hunt for complete-in-box copies entirely and delivers something that simply cannot be recreated once opened.
This one is for the Nintendo collector who wants their shelf to tell the full story.
