Item Description
Necropotence rewrote black card advantage in the '90s, and Modern Horizons 3 answered with a three-black-mana legendary heir. Necrodominance makes you skip your draw step. Instead, at the beginning of your end step, you may pay any amount of life and draw that many cards. Your maximum hand size becomes five, and any card or token that would be put into your graveyard from anywhere is exiled instead.
Drawing at end of turn changes everything. You watch the turn play out before deciding how deep to dig, then draw as many as you dare, cast what you can at instant speed with mana you held up, and keep the best five. The costs are real: every card is paid for in life, the hand cap trims your excess at cleanup, and the exile clause shuts off your own graveyard, so it belongs in decks that never planned to use one. With Commander's 40-life starting total, that life budget stretches a very long way.
This is the Modern Horizons 3 printing, collector number 102, a mythic legendary enchantment illustrated by Robin Olausson, in non-foil. For black players who love living on the edge of their life total, few modern cards are as tempting.
