Complete in box: the disc, the manual and the original case, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. The photos are of this exact copy — look them over closely for its condition, packaging and details. Discs are professionally resurfaced when they need it and tested before listing. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Rockstar has a habit of building worlds and then letting you loose in them, and Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition points that instinct squarely at street racing. San Diego, Atlanta and Detroit are rebuilt as open cities you can tear across at any hour, and the races treat them less as tracks than as suggestions. Checkpoints mark the route, but the fastest line through downtown might cut across a plaza, down an alley or through oncoming traffic, and finding those lines is half the fun. Rockstar San Diego, the studio that started the series as Angel Studios, tuned it for arcade speed rather than simulation, and the sense of velocity once you reach the top classes is still startling.
This was the first Midnight Club with licensed vehicles, and the garage spreads across seven distinct types: tuners, luxury sedans, SUVs and trucks, exotics, muscle cars, sport bikes and choppers, ranked from D class up to A. Each type carries a special ability you earn by beating the game's clubs. Zone slows time for razor-precise handling at full speed, Agro lets heavy SUVs and luxury cars plow through traffic without losing momentum, and Roar, the only offensive ability, blasts the cars ahead of a muscle car or chopper out of the way. Choosing a ride is choosing a style of driving, and that keeps the career fresh deep into its later stages.
The DUB name comes from Rockstar's partnership with DUB Magazine, the custom-car publication that defined mid-2000s car culture, and it runs right through the game in DUB-sponsored races and DUB-customized prize vehicles. The upgrade shop matches that energy with paint, vinyls, wheels, bumpers, spoilers, hoods and neon alongside real performance parts. Then there is the soundtrack, a sprawling licensed mix of hip hop and rock with a heavy dose of Detroit techno, fitting for a game that lets you race through the Motor City. A split-screen mode lets two players settle things on the same couch.
Critics scored it in the mid-80s on Metacritic, and it sold more than a million copies on PlayStation 2 alone. This is the original 2005 release, the three-city version as it first arrived, before the following year's Remix edition added Tokyo and more cars. Chrome rims, neon underglow, a chopper threading through rush-hour traffic with a techno track pounding: if that is how you remember the PS2's racing scene, this is the disc it came from.
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition is a racing game, developed by Rockstar San Diego and published by Rockstar Games, and is the third game in the Midnight Club series. Like previous installments in the series, the game is an arcade-style racer and focuses on wild, high-speed racing, rather than realistic physics and driving characteristics. The name derived from a partnership between Rockstar and DUB Magazine, which features heavily in the game in the form of DUB-sponsored races and DUB-customized vehicles as prizes.
