Item Description
Final Fantasy VII opens with a raid on a Mako Reactor in Midgar, and this card lets you live that mission before claiming the city itself. Reactor Raid is a three-mana sorcery Adventure: you may sacrifice an artifact or creature, and if you do, you draw two cards. The card then goes to exile, and later you can play Midgar, City of Mako from exile as a land that enters tapped and taps for black mana.
That is the beauty of the design. You get a spell when you need cards and a land when you need mana, all from a single slot, so it never feels like a wasted draw. Sacrifice decks love it, since a creature that was going to die anyway or an expendable token becomes two fresh cards, and graveyard or artifact strategies can convert spare pieces into fuel. In Commander, a land that doubles as card draw is easy to justify in nearly any black deck.
This is the Final Fantasy printing, collector number 313, a borderless foil Land with Adventure illustrated by Josu Solano. The sweeping art of Midgar and the boastful flavor text about the city's technology are a treat for anyone who remembers walking those streets in FFVII.
