Item Description

The first Mega Man Legacy Collection covered the NES years. The second picks up from there, and it may be the more interesting set, because these four games show Capcom pushing the Blue Bomber in very different directions: toward 16-bit polish, toward 32-bit anime spectacle and then, unexpectedly, back to 8-bit purity.

Mega Man 7 brought the series to the Super NES with big, expressive sprites and a new rival in Bass and his robot wolf Treble, a pair that became fixtures of the franchise. Mega Man 8 is presented in its PlayStation version, with lavish animated cutscenes, a bright soundtrack and English voice acting that fans still quote affectionately. Each has its own personality, from Mega Man 7's Freeze Man and Shade Man to Mega Man 8's breakneck snowboard and jet-sled stretches.

Then came the comeback. Mega Man 9 and 10 were released as downloadable games in 2008 and 2010, deliberately built to look, sound and play like lost NES cartridges, and their stage design ranks with the toughest and smartest in the series. Mega Man 9 introduced Splash Woman, the first female Robot Master, and Mega Man 10 let you play as Proto Man. This collection marked the first physical release for both games, and their extra content, including additional playable characters and bonus stages, unlocks once you clear each game.

Capcom wrapped it all in a thoughtful package: challenges with medal targets and remixed stages, a gallery of artwork that also lets you practice against Robot Masters, every game's soundtrack, and newcomer-friendly options like extra armor and checkpoint saves for players who want to see the ending without memorizing every spike pit. Pair it with the first Legacy Collection and the classic series from 1 through 10 is playable on a single console.
