Item Description

Being turned into a skeleton is a rough start for any prince, but Edmund makes the best of it. When the sorcerer Morgrimm storms the castle and raises an army of the dead, the young heir wakes up as Deadmund, all bones and bravado, and sets out to win his kingdom back one swing at a time. Medieval Moves: Deadmund's Quest is a lighthearted fantasy romp from Zindagi Games, the studio behind Sports Champions, and it was designed entirely around the PlayStation Move motion controller.

The game handles the walking for you, guiding Deadmund along a path and stopping when enemies attack, so all of your attention goes into the fighting. Swing the controller and your sword follows with high and low strikes from any angle; play with two Move controllers and the second becomes a shield you raise to block incoming blows. Raise the controller and draw back to loose an arrow, while shurikens, dynamite and a grappling hook handle distant foes, switches and hard-to-reach ledges. Branching paths through several stages give you a reason to replay, and multiplayer modes such as Invasion, Royal Guard and Cauldron Chaos turn the formula into a party competition.

Critics found the motion tracking a little uneven at times, but most enjoyed the swordplay and the cartoonish charm of its undead world. As an all-ages adventure that makes you physically act out the hero's part, Deadmund's Quest captures exactly what the Move era was reaching for, and it is a fun, slightly goofy piece of Sony's motion-gaming experiment to revisit on PS3.
