Item Description
Maximus, the palace horse from Tangled, has never backed down from a contest of strength, and his Shimmering Skies card turns that pride into a lore engine. He is a six-cost Ruby Storyborn Ally with 3 strength, 5 willpower and 2 lore, and his ROYALLY BIG REWARDS ability checks at the end of your turn: if you have any character in play with 5 strength or more, you gain 2 lore, and if you have one with 10 strength or more, you gain 5 lore instead.
That is a big payoff for decks that pump characters or play natural heavy hitters. Reach the 5-strength mark and Maximus adds lore every turn without needing to quest himself, freeing him to challenge or hold the line on 5 willpower. Reach 10 and a game can swing in a single turn. He is inkable, too, so he can always go into the inkwell when the board isn't ready for him.
This is the Shimmering Skies printing, collector number 105/204, a Super Rare illustrated by Federico Maria Cugliari, in non-foil. The card's flavor text jokes about getting carried away in a tug-of-war, a fitting wink at a horse who never lets go of anything.
