Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

A full 162-game pennant race on a handheld was a big promise in 1992, and The Majors: Pro Baseball made it. Developed by I.T.L and published by Sega for the Game Gear, it carried a Major League Baseball Players Association license, so the lineups are filled with real players from the 1992 season, even though the teams themselves appear only under their city names.

The feature list goes further than most portable sports games of the era. Exhibition games and a versus mode cover quick matches, while the Pennant mode lets you set a season anywhere from 32 to the full 162 games, with a battery save after every game so you can chip away at it on the bus or between classes. An Edit mode lets you draft up to two custom dream teams from any players in the game and take them into exhibition play, which is a great excuse to stack a lineup with your favorite sluggers of the day.

It also has personality. The umpire's calls come through with a distinct accent from its Japanese developers, a quirk that gives the whole game extra character. Reviews were middle-of-the-road at the time, but as a snapshot of the 1992 league in your pocket, with the depth to actually play out a whole season, it is a charming piece of early-90s sports gaming, umpire and all.
