Item Description
Mai never wasted a movement in Avatar: The Last Airbender, and her card is just as efficient. Mai, Scornful Striker is a two-mana black legendary Human Noble Ally, a 2/2 with first strike, and she makes every noncreature spell expensive: whenever a player casts one, that player loses 2 life.
That tax hits everyone, you included, so she shines in creature-heavy decks that rarely cast instants or sorceries anyway. Opponents leaning on removal, card draw and tricks start paying for every answer in life, and in Commander that pressure adds up fast across a table of spellcasters. First strike lets her trade above her size in combat, and as a legendary she can lead a mono-black creature deck or slot into an Ally-themed build.
This is the Avatar: The Last Airbender printing, collector number 109, illustrated by Hori Airi, in foil. Her flavor text recalls the moment Mai defies Azula for Zuko's sake, one of her defining scenes in the series.
