Item Description
Liesa, Forgotten Archangel makes losing a creature a minor inconvenience for you and a permanent one for everyone else. Whenever another nontoken creature you control dies, that card returns to its owner's hand at the beginning of the next end step, ready to be cast again. Meanwhile, if a creature an opponent controls would die, it is exiled instead. All of that comes on a five-mana 4/5 with flying and lifelink.
The asymmetry is what makes her such a strong white-black engine. Sacrifice outlets turn your creatures into reusable resources, enter-the-battlefield creatures can be cast again and again, and board wipes tilt in your favor because your creatures come back to hand while theirs are gone for good. Since opponents' creatures are exiled rather than dying, their death triggers never happen and their recursion has nothing to work with. In Commander she leads aristocrats and value decks or anchors an Orzhov deck from the 99.
