Item Description

Before you ever set foot on Jakku, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens drops you into the Battle of Endor, with the shield generator and the second Death Star hanging in the balance. It is a smart prologue, a reminder of where the saga left off, and then Traveller's Tales hands the story to a new generation: Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron and BB-8 on one side, Kylo Ren, General Hux and Captain Phasma on the other.

The film's big moments are rebuilt with LEGO slapstick, from scavenging on Jakku to the escape aboard the Millennium Falcon and the final assault on Starkiller Base, and this entry added real new ideas to the formula. Multi-Builds let you choose between different constructions from the same pile of bricks, so a puzzle can be solved more than one way. Blaster Battles bring cover-based firefights to a series built on brawling, and arena-style flight sections put you in the cockpit for dogfights over planets and out in space.

A big part of the charm is the cast. Film stars including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega are heard as their characters, and Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie and Anthony Daniels recorded brand-new dialogue for the game. That new material shines in the bonus New Adventures levels, which fill in stories around the film such as Han and Chewbacca's rathtar hunt, Poe's daring rescue mission and the skirmish known as Trouble Over Taul.

Drop-in two-player co-op makes this an easy pick for a movie night that turns into a game night, and the long list of unlockable characters and vehicles gives completionists plenty to chase. Rebuilding the galaxy far, far away in your own goofy image has always been the real pleasure of LEGO Star Wars, and this is the series' brick-built take on the sequel era.
