Item Description
Somewhere between the Death Star trench run and Jabba's palace, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy figured out how to make the most-quoted films in science fiction funny all over again. Traveller's Tales followed its prequel-era hit with Episodes IV, V and VI, and this time the material was the trilogy everyone knew by heart, retold in LEGO with slapstick, mime and a lot of smashed bricks.
The fun comes from mixing abilities. Jedi use the Force and deflect blaster fire, Han and Leia grapple up to high ledges, droids open sealed doors, and Imperial access panels only respond to someone wearing the right uniform, so swapping characters is half of every puzzle. Chewbacca tearing the arms off stormtroopers never stops being funny, and vehicle stages put you in the cockpit for moments like the Battle of Hoth and the Death Star attack.
The PSP version was built with the handheld in mind. A wireless lobby lets a second player drop in alongside you, every level adds a time-challenge mode with prequel-trilogy characters as rewards, and a separate mode includes the final chapter of each prequel episode, so a slice of the first game's story comes along too. The bounty-hunter missions from the console versions were left out to make room for those additions.
This is the game that made the LEGO formula a phenomenon, the jump from a clever experiment to a series that would eventually cover nearly every major film franchise. On a PSP, its short, replayable levels, hidden minikits and character unlocks make it an easy game to pick up for ten minutes and lose an evening to.

About the game
The PSP version adds a few new features and has the a wireless lobby like the DS version. This port removed the bounty hunter missions available in the main releases but added the final chapter for each episode of the previous trilogy in a separate mode. It also added a time challenge mode to each level with characters from the previous trilogy as rewards.
