You step into the shoes of Sora, a bright-eyed kid swept away from his island home into a sprawling multiverse of Disney worlds, fighting alongside Donald Duck and Goofy against the creeping darkness of the Heartless. The real hook is how earnest it all is — there's no wink at the camera, no ironic distance. It commits completely, and that sincerity is exactly why it hit so hard.

The gameplay blends real-time combat with light RPG progression in a way that felt genuinely fresh on the PS2. Each world is built around a classic Disney film — Agrabah, Wonderland, Halloweentown, Atlantica — and they're all rendered with enough love and detail to feel like playable versions of the movies.
