Item Description

It starts with a hunt that goes sideways. Kaku, a caveboy in a cartoonish prehistoric world, sets out after a piglet named Piggy and ends up with a lifelong companion instead, just as he discovers an ancient ruin and learns that the land is in peril. KAKU: Ancient Seal, from Chinese studio BINGOBELL, follows the pair across a sprawling open world split into four elemental regions, each ruled by a lord who must be defeated to reclaim the lost Elemental Souls.

Piggy is more than a mascot. As the adventure unfolds, your porcine partner can teleport Kaku between regions and grants new powers, including a double jump for reaching higher ledges and a water bubble that lets him walk across deep water. Those abilities steadily open up the map, so returning to an old area with a new trick is part of the fun.

Combat is quick and approachable. Kaku starts with a club and soon adds a slingshot, which fires unlimited stones or crafted Fire, Lightning and Poison ammo made from colored ores you collect in the world. Heavy attacks stun enemies, and the environment can join the fight: poison flowers and beehives can be turned against groups of foes. Between battles, dungeons and environmental puzzles break up the exploration and give each region its own challenges.

The PS5 version arrived in October 2025 and drew warm notices for its charm, its puzzles and its sense of scale. It is a colorful, good-natured open-world adventure in the tradition of classic 3D platformer-RPG hybrids, a lighter alternative to the grim survival epics that dominate the genre, and a game where the bond between a boy and his flying pig carries more heart than you might expect.
