Item Description

In the year 2050, robots have taken every job on Earth, and humans no longer remember what work felt like. Fortunately, the robots have built a simulation to show them. Job Simulator: The 2050 Archives, from Owlchemy Labs, invites you to step inside and learn what "jobbing" was like, as interpreted by machines who only half understand it.

There are four jobs to try: Gourmet Chef, Office Worker, Store Clerk and Auto Mechanic. Each comes with screen-faced robots handing out tasks, but the real game is everything you are not supposed to do. Nearly every object can be picked up, stacked, thrown or, held up to your face, eaten. A simple order becomes a culinary crime scene, office supplies become projectiles, and the robots react to all of it with deadpan good humor.

Designed from the start around tracked motion controllers, it launched alongside the HTC Vive in 2016 and arrived with PlayStation VR at that headset's launch later the same year, and it was one of the games that showed early VR players how good it feels to simply reach out and handle things in a virtual space. Infinite Overtime adds a never-ending night shift for players who cannot bring themselves to clock out. It became Owlchemy's breakout hit and later returned on PS VR2, but the original PlayStation VR release is where a lot of players first put on a headset and started lobbing groceries at their robot coworkers.
