Item Description
For a single green mana, Instill Energy bends two of Magic's oldest rules at once: the enchanted creature can attack as though it had haste, and once during each of your turns you may untap it at no cost. That untap is the fun part. Tap a mana creature for mana, untap it and tap it again; attack, then untap after combat so the creature is ready to block; or use any creature's tap ability twice in the same turn.
Instill Energy dates back to Magic's original Alpha set, and this Fourth Edition printing carries the white border and classic frame of the mid-nineties core sets. Fourth Edition, released in 1995, was the set many early players cracked open first, which gives this uncommon real nostalgic pull. In casual and Commander games it earns a slot in decks built around creatures with powerful tap abilities, where doubling those activations every turn can swing a game.
