Item Description
It is 2080, and on the far side of Mars an alarm is going off at a mining station that should be routine. Engineer Jack Leary drives over to check on it, expecting a faulty sensor. What he finds at Fort Solis is a locked-down base, a missing crew and the start of a very long night. Developed by Fallen Leaf with Black Drakkar Games, this sci-fi thriller plays like an interactive film, with no camera cuts or loading screens to break the spell.
The cast is the draw. Roger Clark, the voice of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, plays Jack; Julia Brown plays his colleague Jessica Appleton, who takes control for parts of the story; and Troy Baker plays Wyatt Taylor, the station's medical officer. Captured in Unreal Engine 5 with striking facial detail, their performances carry the tension in a game where the scariest thing is often a conversation.
Play is deliberately slow and grounded. You explore nine interconnected sections of the station above and below the Martian surface, hunting down key cards, solving puzzles, reading crew logs and using a handheld device to pick locks and hack doors, with a rover for crossing the surface. Quick-time events punctuate the most frightening moments, and with no conventional combat, the dread comes from what you uncover rather than what you shoot.
Reviews were divided, with praise for the visuals, sound design and performances and criticism of the measured pace, but players drawn to slow-burn space horror find plenty to admire here. Set aside an evening, turn the lights down and let the mystery of Fort Solis unfold in a sitting or two.

About the game
Fort Solis is a single player third person thriller set on the far side of Mars. Engineer Jack Leary responds to a routine alarm. Upon arriving at a dormant Fort Solis he becomes unnerved by the lack of any staff at the base. As the night grows longer events begin to unravel and spiral out of control. The mystery of what Fort Solis was created for starts to appear along with its crew. Can Jack escape with what he has discovered and more importantly, his life?
