Item Description
Two Mountains for four damage, and not a single mana spent. Fireblast is the burn player's last word: you can pay six mana for it, but nobody does. You sacrifice two Mountains instead and send 4 damage to any target, usually an opponent who thought they were safely out of range.
That free alternate cost is what makes it so loved. Aggressive red decks empty their hands quickly and use every land each turn, and Fireblast lets them deal a final chunk of damage after the mana is gone, often at instant speed on an opponent's end step or in response to a desperate play. It's been a favorite of burn and Sligh-style decks for decades, and its flavor text has the right attitude: “Embermages aren't well known for their diplomatic skills.”
This is the original Visions printing from 1997, collector number 79, a common illustrated by Michael Danza, offered here in non-foil. Visions was the second set of the Mirage block, and this is the card's first appearance, a piece of Magic history for old-frame collectors and burn players alike.
