Item Description
Magic fans will recognize the name. Like the Ascension enchantments of the original Zendikar, Firebender Ascension builds up quest counters and then pays off big, and Avatar: The Last Airbender gives the idea a Fire Nation twist.
For two mana you get an immediate body: when it enters, it creates a 2/2 red Soldier token with firebending 1. Then, whenever a creature you control attacking causes one of its own triggered abilities to trigger, you put a quest counter on the Ascension. Once it reaches four or more counters, you may copy that ability, with new targets if you like. The Soldier's firebending is itself an attack trigger, so the Ascension helps charge itself, and decks full of attack triggers, from token makers to card draw to damage, start doubling up on every swing. That makes it a strong, cheap engine for aggressive red and Boros-style Commander decks built around attacking.
This is the Avatar: The Last Airbender borderless printing, collector number 312, a rare illustrated by Dominik Mayer, offered here in foil.
