Item Description

Before you ever swing a sword in Fable, you are a boy in the village of Oakvale, earning a coin for being good or a cuff for being bad. Then bandits burn the village down, the Heroes' Guild takes you in, and the rest of your life becomes a record of your choices, written right on your face. Fable Anniversary is the HD remaster of that adventure, rebuilt for the Xbox 360 by Lionhead in 2014 from Fable: The Lost Chapters, the expanded version of the 2004 original.

The idea that made Fable famous still lands. Your hero ages as the story moves on, gathers scars from every fight, and slowly sprouts a halo or a pair of horns depending on how you treat the people of Albion. Villagers react to your reputation, cheering or cowering as you walk through Bowerstone. Before a quest you can make boasts, betting your reward on finishing the job without armor or without taking a hit, and Demon Doors scattered across the land demand strange tributes before they will open. Combat mixes melee, archery and Will magic, and the Arena is waiting for anyone who wants to prove themselves.

The story pits you against Jack of Blades, one of the most theatrical villains of the era, with your mysterious sister Theresa guiding you from the shadows and rival Heroes like Whisper and Thunder crossing your path. The Lost Chapters material extends the adventure into colder lands to the north and gives the finale more room to breathe.

Anniversary is more than a resolution bump. It brings an entirely new lighting system, new textures and models, a cleaner interface and a full set of Xbox achievements, plus a Heroic difficulty that takes away Resurrection Phials and makes enemies far more lethal. The British humor, the fairy-tale menace and Albion's pastoral charm come through intact, just sharper. If Fable II and III are the games you know, this is the chance to see where Albion and its Heroes began, on the console where the series grew up.
