Item Description
Exemplar of Light rewards every point of life you gain. This four-mana 3/3 Angel flies, gets a +1/+1 counter whenever you gain life, and whenever you put one or more +1/+1 counters on it, you draw a card, once each turn. Gain life on your turn and the opponent's, and the Angel grows while refilling your hand.
That makes it a natural centerpiece for lifegain decks in Commander and casual play. Creatures that gain life whenever another creature enters, lifelink attackers and incidental lifegain from lands or artifacts all feed it. It also works with any effect that puts +1/+1 counters on your creatures, since those draw you a card too. Ekaterina Burmak illustrated the card.
This is the Foundations printing, collector number 733, illustrated by Ekaterina Burmak, in non-foil. Exemplar of Light debuted in Foundations, and this later-numbered printing extends the set's collector list beyond its original release.
