Wasteland is shaking itself apart, and the Mad Doctor, of all people, swears he has changed and only wants to help. Mickey isn't so sure. Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two brings Mickey back to the world of forgotten Disney characters, this time with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit fighting at his side, the cartoon star Walt Disney created before Mickey ever existed.

The power of two in the title is literal. Mickey still wields his magic brush, using paint to restore broken scenery and win enemies over and thinner to erase walls and obstacles, while Oswald carries a remote control that fires electricity to stun foes and bring machines to life, and he can glide by spinning his ears like a propeller. A second player can drop in to control Oswald for full co-op, and solo players get Oswald as an AI partner. Puzzles are built around both characters' tools working together, and between areas, side-scrolling projector levels drop you into worlds inspired by classic Disney cartoons.

Warren Spector's Junction Point Studios also turned the sequel into a musical. Characters, the Mad Doctor included, break into song as the story unfolds, and unlike the largely text-driven original, the cast is fully voiced. Your choices still matter: how often you reach for paint or thinner, and who you decide to help, shapes how Wasteland's residents treat you and how the story plays out.

The first Epic Mickey was a Wii exclusive, so this sequel marked the series' arrival on PlayStation 3, where it added PlayStation Move support for painting with motion controls. It was also the final game from Junction Point, which closed in early 2013, giving it a distinctive place in Disney gaming history. It is a tidy piece of that history for Disney and Mickey collectors, and a charming co-op platformer built for sharing a couch.
