Item Description
Sometimes the best defense is convincing the other side not to attack at all. Empty City Ruse costs a single white mana and makes a target opponent skip all combat phases of their next turn. No damage to prevent, no blocks to plan: their army simply stays home.
The name carries real history. Empty City Ruse first appeared in Portal Three Kingdoms, where it echoed the famous empty-fort bluff of Chinese military legend, and this Avatar: The Last Airbender Eternal printing brings the same one-mana trick into a story built on outthinking stronger foes. In play it buys a full turn against an aggressive opponent, protects a turn when you are tapped out for a big play, or lets you swing out knowing the scariest player at the table cannot hit back. In multiplayer Commander, pointing it at the biggest board is a cheap and satisfying bit of table politics.
This is the Avatar: The Last Airbender Eternal printing, collector number 3, a mythic in the borderless source-material treatment that uses artwork taken from the animated series itself, offered here in non-foil.
