Item Description
Drain Power is among Magic's oldest tricks, and still one of its most audacious. For two blue mana, you make a target player tap every land they control for mana, then they lose all of that unspent mana and you add it to your own pool instead. Cast it on the opponent with the biggest mana base and you can suddenly afford something enormous.
Originally a rare in Magic's first set, it captures the wild, rule-bending feel of the game's earliest blue cards. Because it's a sorcery, the stolen mana arrives on your own turn, ready to fuel a huge spell, and in Commander it can be a hilarious swing against a ramp player sitting on a dozen lands. Blue decks that like big, unexpected plays have room for that kind of heist.
Fifth Edition, released in 1997, brought these classic cards back in its white-bordered core-set frame. This is the Fifth Edition printing, collector number 82, illustrated by Jerry Tiritilli, in non-foil, a slice of mid-90s Magic history for a binder or a nostalgic blue deck.
