Item Description

Picture Cloud and Sephiroth fighting on the same team while Kefka cackles from the other side of the arena and Bahamut descends to scorch the field. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is built on exactly that fantasy: a three-versus-three arena brawler where heroes and villains from across the Final Fantasy series clash in battlegrounds drawn from their own games. Square Enix partnered with Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja to bring the 2015 Japanese arcade game to PS4, retuned for home play.

Combat runs on the series' signature Bravery system. Bravery attacks chip away at an opponent's Bravery and add it to your own, and HP attacks cash that total in as real damage, so every exchange is a tug-of-war over momentum. With six fighters on the field at once, teamwork decides matches: picking off an isolated foe, peeling an attacker off a teammate, or smashing the Summon Core that appears mid-battle to charge your team's summon. Ifrit, Shiva, Ramuh, Leviathan, Odin, Alexander and Bahamut each turn the tide in their own way when they arrive.

The roster spans the mainline series, from the Warrior of Light and Garland to Lightning, Noctis and Final Fantasy XIV's Y'shtola, and each fighter plays like their source: Terra raining down powerful magic, Zidane darting around as a nimble speedster, Squall slashing with his gunblade. A story mode, unlocked as you play, pits the champions of the gods Materia and Spiritus against each other, and a deep music library lets you choose arranged and original tracks spanning decades of series history.

Dissidia NT drew mixed reviews at launch, with critics finding the six-fighter chaos hard to read, but a dedicated community stuck with it as the game was rebalanced and the roster grew through updates and season passes. It was built with online team play at its center, and the Steelbook Edition was the collector-minded version of the launch release. For a Final Fantasy shelf, it is the series' most ambitious fan-service fighter, a celebration of three decades of crystals, summons and spiky-haired swordsmen.
