Item Description

A star falls from the sky over New Tristram and crashes straight through the cathedral where the original Diablo began, and the series' gothic history comes rushing back. Blizzard's long-awaited sequel launched on PC in 2012, but the PlayStation 3 version that followed in 2013 is a different animal. Rebuilt for a controller, it trades point-and-click for direct movement on the left stick and a dodge roll on the right, and it makes the frantic, demon-slaying loot chase feel right at home on a couch.

Five classes give the hunt its personality. The Barbarian leaps into the middle of a pack and shatters it, the Demon Hunter strafes with crossbows and traps, the Monk strikes in lightning-fast combinations, the Witch Doctor fights behind a crowd of zombie dogs and poison clouds, and the Wizard bends time and arcane energy to her will. New skills and runes keep reshaping how a class plays as you level, and the endless stream of randomized weapons and armor means there is always one more dungeon worth clearing. For players who like real stakes, Hardcore mode makes every death permanent.

The story follows Deckard Cain, his niece Leah and the fallen archangel Tyrael across four acts, from the haunted farmland around Tristram to the desert city of Caldeum, the siege of Bastion's Keep and finally the High Heavens themselves. Along the way you face the Skeleton King Leoric, the Butcher, Belial the Lord of Lies, Azmodan the Lord of Sin and at last Diablo himself, all to Russell Brower's brooding orchestral score, with Blizzard's lavish cinematics marking each turn of the story.

Many players feel the console release is where Diablo III found its footing. It arrived without the real-money auction house that dogged the PC launch, with loot tuned so that fewer but better items drop, and with four-player local co-op that lets friends share one screen and squabble over the same pile of legendary gear. It is an action RPG built for an evening of tearing through demons together, and the version that won over a new generation of console players to Blizzard's dark fantasy.

About the game

Diablo III is the third installment in Blizzard's franchise. The game, like its predecessors, is a dungeon crawler in which the player fights against hordes of enemies ranging from beasts and undead to actual demons. The game has four acts, two game modes (normal and hardcore) as well as four difficulty levels: Normal, Nightmare, Hell and Inferno. A new addition to Diablo III is the auction house, where items are exchanged for in-game gold or real money, also usable to purchase Blizzard merchandise. The game features a wide array of achievements earned upon meeting certain requirements.
