Item Description

The frozen wastes of Tau Volantis hide the answer to everything: where the Markers came from, why the Necromorphs exist and how to stop them for good. Dead Space 3 sends Isaac Clarke there for the trilogy's final chapter, and Visceral Games' 2013 finale is the biggest, most ambitious entry in the series, trading claustrophobic corridors for blizzards, alien ruins and the ghost ships of an abandoned fleet.

The opening hours take place in orbit, where Isaac and his reluctant allies, including Ellie Langford and the conflicted Captain Robert Norton, pick through the derelict ships of the Flotilla and make long spacewalks between them. Down on the planet, the snowstorms and ancient alien structures give the game some of the most striking environments in the franchise. Danik's fanatical Unitologists bring armed human soldiers into the fight, and the Necromorphs adapt to the cold in nasty new ways, all while the story pushes toward a discovery that ties the whole trilogy together.

Weapon crafting is the big mechanical change. At workbenches you combine frames, tool heads, tips and upgrade circuits to build your own weapons, pairing a plasma cutter with a flamethrower or a rifle with a ripper blade, and scavenger bots gather resources while you fight. Universal ammo simplifies the inventory so experimentation stays fun. The game was also designed for drop-in online co-op, where a second player takes control of Sergeant John Carver and sees co-op-exclusive missions and hallucinations from Carver's own traumatic past.

EA promoted the Limited Edition with early access to two bonus suit-and-weapon bundles, First Contact and Witness the Truth. Dead Space 3 is the conclusion Isaac's story was building toward and the final mainline Dead Space from Visceral, which makes it the natural capstone to the original trilogy on PlayStation 3.
