Item Description
Ashling, the flamekin pilgrim of the original Lorwyn, returns in Lorwyn Eclipsed as a double-faced legend that keeps flipping between fire and frost. Her front face, Ashling, Rekindled, is a two-mana 1/3 Elemental Sorcerer that lets you discard a card to draw a card whenever she enters or transforms back to that side. At the start of your first main phase you may pay blue to flip her into Ashling, Rimebound.
Rimebound is the payoff: whenever she transforms to that side, and again at the beginning of each of your first main phases, she adds two mana of any one color that can be spent only on spells with mana value 4 or greater. Pay red to flip her back for another loot. That rhythm, smoothing your draws on one turn and ramping toward a big spell on the next, gives blue-red decks a cheap engine that keeps paying off turn after turn. She is a compelling Izzet commander for big-spell and Elemental builds, and a strong early play in any deck that wants to reach its four- and five-drops ahead of schedule.
This is the Lorwyn Eclipsed borderless printing, collector number 290, a rare illustrated by Chuck Lukacs, in foil, with the art running edge to edge on both faces of the card.
