Item Description
Red was in Electrical. Nobody saw Red in Electrical. Somebody hits the emergency button, the table erupts and eight people who were calmly fixing wires thirty seconds earlier are suddenly accusing each other of murder. That is Among Us, and few games have turned a group of friends into amateur detectives and shameless liars quite this quickly.
The setup is simple on purpose. Four to fifteen players crew a spaceship, scurrying between rooms to finish quick tasks like swiping a keycard, rewiring panels or fueling the engines, while one or more Impostors hidden among them sabotage the ship, slip through vents and pick off anyone caught alone. Every reported body or emergency meeting becomes a discussion and a vote, and the crew wins by finishing their work or ejecting every Impostor. Sabotages such as a reactor meltdown or lights going out force everyone to scramble, which is exactly when the Impostor strikes. The maps, The Skeld, MIRA HQ, Polus and The Airship, each change how alibis and ambushes work, and the game was built around online lobbies where players gather to scheme together.
Innersloth, a tiny studio, released Among Us in 2018 to modest attention, then watched it explode in 2020 as streamers and friends stuck at home made it a global phenomenon. The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions arrived in December 2021, and the Crewmate Edition was the entry-level version of the game's boxed console release, part of a line of physical editions that also included the Impostor and Ejected Editions.
It is a snapshot of a moment when the word "sus" went mainstream, and a boxed PlayStation edition of the game that turned accusing your friends into a party ritual.
