Ask wrestling fans of a certain age for the best wrestling game ever made and many will say WWF No Mercy. AEW: Fight Forever was built to chase that feeling. Yuke's developed it with Hideyuki "Geta" Iwashita, the director of No Mercy and WCW/nWo Revenge on the Nintendo 64, at the helm, and THQ Nordic released it in 2023 as All Elite Wrestling's first console game. Kenny Omega, a lifelong fan of those N64 games, championed the project as their spiritual successor.

In the ring, it trades simulation for arcade pace. Grapples, strikes and momentum build quickly toward signature moves and finishers, and the roster brings AEW's stars to life, including Omega, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, MJF, Adam Page, Sting, Darby Allin, Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker and Orange Cassidy. Match types include tag teams, ladder matches, the Casino Battle Royale and AEW's chaotic Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch, and a large selection of weapons adds to the mayhem.

Road to Elite, the career mode, follows your wrestler through a year built around AEW's pay-per-view calendar, from All Out and Full Gear to Revolution and Double or Nothing. Between matches it leans into the lighter side of life on the road, with sightseeing, local food and a lineup of goofy minigames. Create-a-wrestler options, couch multiplayer and split screen make it a natural pick for a room full of friends.

Reviews were mixed, with critics praising the arcade feel while wanting more modes and polish. For fans who grew up on No Mercy, though, the familiar rhythm of the grappling is the draw, and Fight Forever is a snapshot of AEW's first era in video game form. It is where AEW's console story begins.
