Item Condition

Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

In the kingdom of Hytopia, fashion is everything, which is exactly why a witch's curse counts as a national emergency. Princess Styla has been hexed into a drab brown bodysuit she cannot take off, and the king's call for heroes brings three Links together to venture into the Drablands and track down the culprit. Tri Force Heroes plays that setup for laughs from start to finish, borrowing the look and controls of A Link Between Worlds and rebuilding them around one idea: three heads are better than one.

The signature move is the Totem. Links can pick each other up and stack three high, letting the top hero hit switches on high ledges or strike towering enemies while the bottom one walks the whole tower around. Each area is a run of compact four-stage dungeons built entirely around this kind of teamwork, with items laid out at the start of a stage so every player has a job: one Link with the boomerang, another with the gust jar, a third with bombs. Because the game was designed without voice chat, the touch screen holds a set of emote panels, from calls to throw or form a Totem to a pair of cheering pom-poms, and that limited vocabulary turns coordination into its own comedy.

Between quests, Madame Couture's shop turns the materials you bring back into outfits, and each one changes how you play. The Kokiri Clothes fire three arrows at once, the Big Bomb Outfit grows your bombs, and the Cheetah Costume puts a spring in your step, while the Tingle Tights are there for anyone with a sense of humor and something to prove. Dressing up is the game's progression system, so choosing the right costume for a stage matters. Solo players get two Doppels, lifeless dolls you swap between to control each Link in turn, and a Coliseum mode lets friends square off instead of teaming up.

Directed by Hiromasa Shikata and co-developed with Grezzo, Tri Force Heroes arrived in 2015 as a direct sequel to A Link Between Worlds and a spiritual heir to the Four Swords games. It was made for three-player sessions, and that's where it shines brightest: three 3DS systems on a couch, a pile of mismatched costumes and a lot of yelling about who was supposed to be on top. It's the most playful corner of the Zelda series and a rare chance to treat Hyrule's hero as the star of an outright party game.

About the game

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is the direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The game is similar to the Four Swords games in which Link is accompanied by two other Links in the game's multiplayer mode, but it also allows for a single-player mode in which the other Links are replaced by animated dolls that can be swapped out during the game. The three Link can cooperate in a variety of ways to solve puzzles and coordinate their attacks with the help of on-screen notifications that give clues on what to do.
