Item Description

Few sequels take a world players already know by heart and make it feel unknown again, but The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom pulls it off. Hyrule is back, yet the sky is now scattered with floating islands, chasms have torn open the ground to a vast, pitch-black underworld called the Depths, and the map from Breath of the Wild has become a three-layered playground stretching from the clouds to the bottom of the world.

The headline is Link's new arm and the powers it grants. Ultrahand lets you grab almost anything and stick it to anything else: planks become bridges, fans and wheels become cars, and a handful of ancient Zonai devices turn into flying machines, rocket sleds and contraptions nobody has a name for yet. Fuse bolts objects onto weapons, shields and arrows, so a stick and a boulder make a hammer and an arrow tipped with a Keese eyeball homes in on its target. Ascend lets Link swim straight up through a ceiling, and Recall rewinds an object through time, turning a falling rock into an elevator. Players solve the same shrine a dozen different ways, and spent months sharing their wildest builds online.

The story opens beneath Hyrule Castle, where Link and Zelda find a mummified figure whose awakening lifts the castle into the sky, ruins the Master Sword and sends Zelda vanishing. Ganondorf returns in the flesh as the Demon King, and piecing together Zelda's fate through the scattered Dragon's Tears makes for one of the most affecting stretches in the series. Skydiving between islands, descending into the Gloom-soaked Depths, and recruiting sages of wind, fire, water and lightning to fight alongside Link round out an adventure that earned near-universal acclaim in 2023.

Tears of the Kingdom pushed the original Switch hard, and this 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is where its wildest creations finally run the way players imagined them, with improved resolution and smoother frame rates even when the screen fills with a hand-built sky fortress, a Gleeok and a row of Zonai cannons. Nintendo also built the edition around Zelda Notes, a companion feature in the Nintendo Switch mobile app with 240 additional voice memories for players who want every scrap of lore.
