Item Description
Few ninjas suit Yuriko's playstyle better than Final Fantasy VII's own materia thief. This Final Fantasy: Through the Ages printing presents Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow as Yuffie Kisaragi, the young ninja from Wutai, with borderless full art by Tetsuya Nomura, the character designer behind FFVII's cast. Through the Ages brings artwork from the Final Fantasy series itself onto Magic cards, so this is Yuffie as fans first met her.
The card underneath plays beautifully. Yuriko is a 1/3 Human Ninja for {1}{U}{B} with commander ninjutsu: pay {U}{B} and return an unblocked attacker to hand to put her onto the battlefield tapped and attacking from the command zone. Whenever a Ninja you control deals combat damage to a player, you reveal your top card, put it into your hand, and each opponent loses life equal to its mana value. Cheap evasive creatures open the door, Ninjas slip through, and expensive spells on top of the library turn every hit into a table-wide life drain.
This is the Final Fantasy: Through the Ages printing, collector number 60, borderless in non-foil. Pairing a mischievous, quick-fingered ninja with a commander built entirely around ninjas is the kind of crossover that makes a deck feel like it was always meant to be.
