Item Description
Look closely: that is not Diglett. Wiglett is Paldea's Garden Eel Pokémon, a Water type that pokes up out of the sand and looks uncannily like the classic Ground-type mole despite being an entirely different species. The double take it caused when Scarlet and Violet launched made it an instant fan favorite.
The card is just as playful. Wiglett is a Basic Water Pokémon with 50 HP, and its single attack, Twisting Strike, costs one Water Energy for 10 damage. Flip a coin, and on heads you prevent all damage and effects of attacks done to it during your opponent's next turn, a fitting trick for a Pokémon that ducks into the sand at the first sign of trouble. Its Pokédex entry adds that it can smell a predatory Veluza from more than 65 feet away and hide before it arrives.
This is Wiglett 206/198 from Scarlet & Violet: Base Set, an illustration rare by You Iribi, in foil. Numbered beyond the set's main run, illustration rares give the Pokémon full artwork instead of the standard card layout, making this a fun pull from the set that opened the Scarlet & Violet era.
