Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. For the specifics, look to the photos — they're of this exact item. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Spin, call a letter and pray you do not land on Bankrupt. Wheel of Fortune: Junior Edition brings the TV game show to the NES with one important twist: its puzzles were written for younger players, so kids could take on the board without every answer pitched over their heads.

Everything else works the way the show does. Spin the wheel, call consonants, buy vowels and solve the puzzle before your opponents, whether those opponents are friends passing the controller or the computer. There are more than a thousand puzzles on the cartridge, enough that family game nights rarely repeated themselves, and the familiar theme music plays as you get started.

The game was published by GameTek, the company behind a long run of NES game-show adaptations from Jeopardy! to Double Dare, and developed by Rare, the British studio that would soon be famous for Battletoads and Donkey Kong Country. It was one of four Wheel of Fortune games on the NES, made only for that console, arriving between the original cartridge and the later Family Edition.

That makes it a fun piece of NES history as much as a party game: a Rare-developed cartridge that most players never realized came from the same team as their favorite action games, and a snapshot of the era when a game show's home version was a fixture of the family shelf.
